Hotel from wood on the Spree river, VMI timber construction competition

While working on this project our engineer-architecture student’s team took the challenge of 6 storey construction with loadbearing wood structure.
The solution combines concrete base and wooden blocks with hotel rooms. The winter gardens inbetween the blocks act as a “buffer” helping regulate the interior temperature. The structural elements were chosen to minimize the costs and construction time : mainly prefabricated they are assembled on the site.
